Hospital News Updates:

Dr. Molly Performs Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic Surgery

Harmony is now offering laparoscopic surgery for spays, gastropexy, and liver biopsies. This minimally invasive surgery is done through 2-4 small incisions. This is different from traditional open surgery, which is performed through a much larger incision. Laparoscopic surgery is also associated with decreased pain, more rapid return to normal activity, and lower wound infection rates compared to traditional, open surgery. Click here to learn more!

Harmony turns 15 on May 18th!

Harmony began offering veterinary services on May 18, 2009, in a 1,300-square-foot space at 2141 Ten Ten Road with five employees, including our co-founders, Dr. Jodi Reed & Jason Lenhardt.

In 2018, we moved into our current location at 2401 Reliance Avenue, allowing us to offer our fantastic resort with boarding, grooming, and daycare; a space for rehabilitative therapy; expanded dental services and additional surgical suites. In 2024, Harmony Animal Hospital Pet Resort & Spa has more than 75 employees, including 9 doctors, allowing us to increase the services we offer and the number of pets (and their families) we are able to care for every day.

This move also allowed Dr. Jodi to realize her dream of creating a dedicated space that provides veterinary care to nonprofit rescue organizations. In 2020, Harmony Animal Rescue Clinic (HARC) opened at 2141 Ten Ten Road 21. As of this writing HARC has provided 5,800+ surgeries and has helped 8,000+ rescue pets.

Our Harmony family is incredible! The passion and dedication that our employees and clients have for Harmony is extraordinary. So thank you to our Harmony family – it’s been an amazing 15 years!

CrockettCrockett

Crockett was Adopted!

On January 17, our Administrative Manager, Jen Petersen, received an urgent email from Beautiful Together, one of our esteemed rescue group partners at HARC. The message contained a plea for fosters, highlighting several pups in dire need of assistance. Among them was a 2-year-old hound mix named “Major,” who had spent a staggering 143 days – almost five months – at the Randolph County animal shelter. Tragically, Major was facing imminent euthanasia if a foster or adopter didn’t step forward immediately.

Jen and her husband, Erik, had been contemplating fostering or adopting again following the loss of their beloved 11-year-old dog, Lucy, in July 2022. When they saw Major’s photo, they were struck by the uncanny resemblance to Lucy. Determined to make a difference, they wasted no time driving to the Randolph County shelter. Upon meeting Major, now lovingly named “Crockett,” Jen and Erik knew they couldn’t just foster him – they had to adopt him!

Since joining their family, Crockett has been living his best life. From initially being timid about getting into the car on adoption day, he now eagerly jumps in all on his own. Gone are the days of sitting in the shelter replaced by running with his new furry friends at doggie daycare. With regular exercise and love, he has transformed from a portly pup to a fit and trim companion.

While Crockett initially remained quiet for the first few days after coming home, he has since found his “big boy voice” much to the amusement of the neighborhood! He delights in chasing squirrels and birds, playing fetch, snuggling on the couch, and sleeping in his humans’ bed at night.

Jen and Erik are overflowing with gratitude towards Beautiful Together for putting out the call for help and facilitating Crockett’s journey into their lives. They are immensely thankful for their sweet Crockett and the joy he brings into their lives.

Fostering and adopting can truly have an incredible impact on both humans and animals.

Thank you for taking the time to read about Crockett’s journey, and please feel free to share this story with others who might need a little pick-me-up!
