How did you arrive at your current position?

Peter (my husband) and I recently moved down to Apex, NC from Nashua, NH due to a shift in his career. The first jobs I looked at in the area were all at veterinary clinics. I initially planned on applying for a mass amount of jobs at once to see what I would be offered. However, when I read Harmony’s job advertisement, I decided that this clinic was where I wanted to work and I would get this job no matter the circumstances. I applied and got my job within a week. It has been a great fit so far, and I love meeting all the clients and their furry — and not furry — babies.

What are you most passionate about professionally?

What excites you most about your work and the contribution you can make? — Professionally, I am passionate about chocolate. Besides that, I am passionate about working at an animal hospital that allows me to be a stepping stone in the process of saving animal lives. I am also passionate about educating new or current pet owners about how to best look after and care for their animals with the backing of advice from doctors and technicians. It is exciting to see the value in my work and the cooperative work of the hospital in patients who continue to come back to the practice and who have visibly overcome medical obstacles.

Where did you grow up and why aren’t you there now?

This is a little bit of a complicated question to answer as I have lived in multiple countries and states throughout my life. I was born in the Philippines while my dad was working as an agronomist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). My family then moved to Georgia and ultimately, we landed in East Tennessee. During college, I lived my junior year in Ireland where I met my husband. After moving back to TN to finish my Bachelors degree in English Literature and History, Peter followed me to the US where he set down some roots in New Hampshire. After graduating college, I moved up to New Hampshire to get married and settle down. Life had other plans for my “settling”. A few years later, the company Peter works for sent us to North Carolina where we are now currently living in Apex. North Carolina is a beautiful state and I am happy to have ended up here with my husband and two spoiled rotten cats, Mumbles and Nibbles.

What would be impossible for you to give up?

I would never be able to give up my love of animals, reading actual paper books, and especially my marriage.

What is one of your grand, audacious goals for this life?

I would love to start and run my own successful grooming facility. Additionally, if life ever placed me in NYC, I would do my utmost to have a starring roll in a Broadway musical production.
