Amy Trey, DVM

Amy Trey, DVM graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Having enjoyed her time in North Carolina as a Duke undergraduate (go Blue Devils and 2015 National Championships!), she wanted to return to the area as a veterinarian. She worked as a mixed animal veterinarian for 2 years in Fayetteville, NC, taking care of a variety of animals, including but not limited too, chickens, goats, horses, dogs, and cats. Through working as an emergency veterinarian and general practitioner, she developed a passion for treating and managing complex cases and seeing patients through follow up care. She also enjoys dentistry and all aspects of feline medicine.

Dr. Amy grew up in New York City where she had a diverse range of experiences with animals. During veterinary school, she had a passion for the wildlife-livestock interface and pursued experiences ranging from dairy cattle medicine in New York to brucellosis in Uganda to zoo/wildlife medicine in Taiwan. She looks forward to deepening roots in the community and returning to volunteer work. Currently, she lives in Durham with her two cats, Lily and Oka (who are named after a Duke basketball player). During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, James, running outdoors, reading a good book, and finding a good cider.
