Laura Gaylord, DVM, ACVN DIPLOMATE, Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist
Dr. Laura Gaylord, Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist, graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 and has practiced in North Carolina ever since. Dr. Laura serves as a consultant, clinician, researcher and pet advocate professional for advancing nutrition wellness for dogs and cats.
While in veterinary school, she was inducted into the Phi Zeta Honor Society (top 5% of class) and achieved the Senior awards for Small Animal Internal Medicine and Radiology. During her time in practice, she’s worked across North Carolina and has managed a Wellness and Rehabilitation Practice for several years. During this time, she also completed a graduate certificate program in Veterinary Homeland Security from Purdue University and currently serves on the reserve list for the North Carolina Response Corp (NCVRC). Dr. Laura has served as President of Friends of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, an organization focused on charitable giving and scholarship for the NCVMA.
To follow her passion for nutrition and wellness, Dr. Laura completed a Small Animal Clinical Nutrition Residency at NCSU-College of Veterinary Medicine in December of 2016 and became board certified in March 2019 with the American College of Veterinary Nutrition (ACVN). During her residency, she managed the nutritional needs of complex medical and surgical cases in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with voluntary feeding plans, assisted feeding strategies, and parenteral nutrition. Her nutrition interests include homemade diet formulation, achieving optimal health for our patients with superior nutrition, and obesity management strategies.
Currently, Dr. Laura offers nutrition consultations by referral or appointment at Harmony Animal Hospital.
